Bones Lights Up Electric Arcadia at Big Games Night Out

Last week, Bones: Wandering Soul proudly featured as one of the key indie games showcased at Electric Arcadia, a glowing celebration of creativity, community, and play that transformed Federation Square into a retro-inspired wonderland for Big Games Night Out. Over the course of a week, the heart of Melbourne came alive with vibrant neon lights, the hum of arcade cabinets, and the buzz of players rediscovering the pure fun of hands-on gaming.

Seeing Bones: Wandering Soul running on a custom arcade cabinet was an unforgettable experience for our team. Designed as a hand-crafted, atmospheric adventure about light and loss, Bones took on an entirely new character in that setting. The arcade build came with all the quirks that make retro play so special, including the occasional input lag after long gaming sessions, the tactile joy of big clunky buttons, and the challenge that made every movement feel earned. It wasn’t perfect, and that’s exactly what made it perfect. Watching people crowd around, cheering each other on, experimenting, and laughing as they got used to the controls was everything we love about sharing games in person.

A huge congratulations to Louie Roots and Callum Preston for curating such a spectacular and imaginative exhibition. Electric Arcadia wasn’t just a display of games; it was an experience that reminded everyone what makes play so universal and joyful. From the dazzling arcade setups to the thoughtful curation of indie titles, Louie and Callum built a space that invited connection, nostalgia, and curiosity. It was the perfect environment for Bones, surrounded by creative projects that celebrated both artistry and innovation. The result was pure fun for all ages, with families, friends, and strangers side by side, all rediscovering what it means to simply play.

Being part of Electric Arcadia was deeply humbling. To see our little alpha prototype shining among so many talented creators and ambitious projects which have been either released, or close to, reminded us just how strong and supportive the local indie scene is. Moments like this reaffirm why we make games, not just to tell stories, but to create shared experiences that spark emotion, curiosity, and connection.

Our heartfelt thanks to Louie Roots, Callum Preston, and the entire Big Games Night Out team for making it all possible. Electric Arcadia was a brilliant success and a glowing reminder of how creativity thrives when people come together to build something fun, weird, and wonderful.
